How do we begin?

After you contact us we will set up an initial interview to ensure that we know how you would like your home or pet to be cared for while you are gone. We will do a walk-through of your home, complete a Client Checklist and Service Agreement and discuss the services you need. We will obtain a house key and any alarm details required.


I am away frequently and often on short notice. Do we need to have a meeting every time I leave town?

No. Once your Service Agreement is on file and arrangements have been made to get your key, a quick call to us and fee payment is all that is required to book the service.


What is your policy on keys?

We will obtain your house keys at the initial meeting. Keys will be returned to you upon your return home. For long stays and if you require us to keep your keys they will be held in a safe.


What will you do if something goes wrong while I'm gone?

As part of the Service Agreement we require the information of your insurance company.

We will contact you directly to notify you of the situation and then report it to your insurance company. In the event you cannot be reached we will make arrangements with the insurance adjuster, plumbers, cleaners, and other professional services that may be required.

We will keep you up to date on the developments, but will handle things so that you may continue your vacation with as few interruptions as possible.


How am I billed and when is it due?

Payment is due upon signing of the contract. For contracts in excess of $60.00, a downpayment of 25% applies with the balance due each month or upon your return.

We currently only accept cash, personal cheques or e-transfers.


How much notice do you need for a cancellation?

Cancellations must be received within 48 hours of a scheduled visit or a cancellation fee of $15.00 will apply.


Do you have insurance if you cause damage to the home or if something is missing?

Thunder Bay Home Check Inc. is insured through a licensed broker in Ottawa. Thunder Bay Home Check Inc. and its employees agree to provide services stated in the contract in a reliable and trustworthy manner.


Do you take 'last minute' reservations?

We will make every effort to accommodate last minute clients, depending on the time and resources available.


Is my personal information kept confidential?

Absolutely. We do not disclose any client information to third parties.


Do you have reference?

Yes. References are available upon request. In the meantime, you can read a few testimonials provided by some of our clients.


How long have you been in business?
